As a former state trooper and lifelong San Marcos resident with nearly four decades of experience, Charles E. Charles is a 5th generation Hays/Comal County resident. He and his family are highly involved in the community. Charles received his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University. He was named the recipient of the 1981 George T. Barrow Award, an award given annually to the student who, in the opinion of the Dean, will become an outstanding attorney.

Charles became licensed with the State Bar in 1981, and is also licensed with the U.S. District Courts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for both the 4th and 5th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Over the past 30 plus years, Charles E. Soechting has cultivated vast experience in many practice areas, developing a statewide reputation as a tenacious attorney. Before reestablishing The Soechting Law Firm, Charles E. Soechting managed the San Marcos office of the O'Quinn Law Firm and a very successful section at the Houston office, one of the nation's preeminent litigation firms.
